I {Doily} Heart You

(Doily) Heart You
Hey!

Happy Wednesday! Well this is it. It's time for my first Top Dog Dies Design Team post and we're kicking it off with a lovely blog hop (pun intended!) :)

There are prizes to be won on this hop too so be sure to enter over at the TDD blog and extra entries can be added by commenting along the hop too (enter by Sunday Feb 9th!). You should have hippety-hopped across here from my fellow teamie and Amy, Amy Tsuruta. If you haven't, be sure to start out at Top Dog Dies.

So the brief was to create something with a Valentine's theme. Now I'm a pretty CAS (Clean and Simple) gal and I'm not known to fussy things up with doilies, but something about that TDD Heart Doily Die tempted me to play with it. So play I did. A little nervous. A little lost in uncharted territory. I kept it within some of my comfort zone by making it a part of a CAS design. :)

To provide a focal point, and to know who the heart is for, I die-cut the letters 'YOU' from the TDD Vintage Alphabet Die. The font of this alphabet ties in nicely with the vintage feel of the design.

tips and tricks
  • My mini pegs (clothespins) needed to be customised to match the design. It's so easy to do this with a bit of acrylic paint. Simply take the peg apart, paint each wooden part, set aside to dry, and then put it back together again. (This is a little bit fiddly with mini pegs, but it's worth the effort!)
  • White on white designs really require dimension so the elements don't get lost. The texture of paper, wood and twine help with this as does popping up my doily on foam pads.
Now I've just got to find someone who'd like this card. I'm pretty sure that this design is waaaaaay too girly and fussy for my guy LOL!

That's all from me today. It's time to get hopping across to Giovana Smith who has some more TDD inspiration in store for you!

Thanks so much for hopping along here today!
