Happy Friday-Eve, peeps. Ready for some studying CASE Study stylee? I certainly hope so! :)
Today's card is the result of being inspired by this lovely card from our CASE Study muse, Elena Roussakis:
Check out the original post of this project here.
I was inspired by the neutral colours, the twine and the pop of red. But the think that really inspired me was the wood effect. This card of Elena's had me playing with a new (well, new to me!) material with my dies and Cuttlebug. Balsa wood. I think I'm addicted. I've got balsa wood in every shape and form possible after making this card!
- I found that Memento Ink stamped well on the balsa wood and didn't bleed much at all.
- I'm sure you can get various thicknesses of balsa wood. I used an extremely thin balsa wood; almost as thin as paper.
- I'm told that if you carefully place balsa wood over steam (be careful not to burn your fingers!) you can actually bend it into a shape for extra dimension.
Well expect to see more balsa wood on the blogeroo in the future...I love it! :)
But in the meantime, why not join in the fun with us? No need to dig out anything fancy to play along: simply be inspired by Elena's project and create! For the ultimate mojo boost, check out what the rest of the CASE Study DT created.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by this little part of blogland today. Your visits are always appreciated! :)

WOW! Beautiful! I love the wood leaf!!
Beautiful! Everything that I love about your designs. :-)
Amazing! I used to use balsa wood a lot to make wood veneer pictures from an old Sheffield craft shop that is sadly no more :( Where did you find your really thin stuff?

now wouldn't this be the perfect card to send to your favourite Canadians, Duchess! I adore balsa wood too :) I get mine in long sheets from Michaels. It's delicate, but that's the beauty of it! And I always say "wood is good!" Hope all is well, miss you! ox
