We three kings trees

Three Trees
Hey!

Happy Saturday! Happy World Card Making Day! Happy Birthday, Clearly Besotted Stamps!

Can you believe it? CBS is turning one already!  Only seems like yesterday that CBS opened its virtual doors for business - how time flies!

Stephanie (owner of CBS), is celebrating by giving you a 10% discount code (enter BDAY01) that will remain active from October 5th - October 8th. Before you dash to get your discount, you may want to wait until the new release is available for purchase which is in the extremely early hours of tomorrow (Just past midnight tonight!) *wink*

We're also celebrating the occasion with the most fabulous blog hop full of stamping talent. Honestly, I'm tickled pink to be a part of it! You should have hippety hopped over here from Stephanie's blog. If you haven't, be sure to start out there.

My card for today uses the new set, Modern Christmas, (designed by me! I'm so thankful for CBS releasing my designs! Exciting and nerve wrecking at once - ha!) Although I've been using the sentiments of this set throughout the week, I thought it was about time I inked one of the trees from the set. Many of the sentiments in this set fit perfectly into the dies from the 'Tag Along Die Collection' as well. I used the end of a the banner die from the collection to stamp my sentiment on to but I know that I'll be stamping sentiments from the set on to the tags in no time! :)

Seeing as I've inked up my Modern Christmas stamp set, I'm giving it away on this post!

To be in with a chance of winning this set, simply leave me a comment on this post and I'll pick a random winner. In addition to this, one randomly selected commenter from all the comments on the participating blogs will win a grand prize of $75 Simon Says Stamp gift certificate and £100 Clearly Besotted gift certificate! Wowzers! :D

Now I won't babble as there's a lot of amazing peeps, projects and prizes to check out. Next on your hopping adventure is my fellow CBS teamie and friend, Caryn!

Thanks so much for stopping by here today. I hope you have a great weekend, a fabulous World Card Making Day, and happy hopping! :)

Doily Die = Wreath Die

celebrate the season wreath
Hey!

Oh hooray for Friday. If your week has been anything like my last couple, you’ll be as excited as I am to see the weekend approaching! :)

I've somehow managed to squeeze in a teeny tiny amount of inky time and managed to whip up a few samples to give you sneak peek of what’s coming your way from Clearly Besotted Stamps in a few days time (Oct 6th).

You may have seen on the CBS DTs blogs a peek at a gorgeous set (with a coordinating die) called Delightful Doilies. Well, I took one look at the doily die and thought Christmas (what else at the moment?!). Yup, that’s not just a doily die, but a wreath die too of course!

I added a sentiment from the new set, Modern Christmas (designed by myself – eek!), in the centre of the wreath. It fits perfectly. Score!

Joy Wreath
And you know that I was too lazy to separate the larger and smaller doily dies when I ran them through my Cuttlebug with green felt, right? So it made sense to make a mini version of the same card. The mini ‘Joy!’ sentiment from Modern Christmas fits perfectly in the mini doily-wreath. Double score! :D
    tips and tricks
  • Decorate your doily-wreath with a variety of embellishments! Buttons, sequins, gems etc…. It’s the perfect way to use up any embellishments you may have lying on your desk.
  • Don’t feel like you have to stick with the traditional colour combos either. I'm just a sucker for red and green, always have been, always will be!
  • To add an extra Christmas/holiday vibe to the cards I stamped CBS's Basic Stripes at a 45 degree.
So there you have it. A doily die that has magically transformed into a wreath die – ta-dah!

Must dash, got my final day of madness at work to get through before I can look forward to World Card Making Day tomorrow! I hope you can stick around/visit here tomorrow for it as we’re also celebrating Clearly Besotted Stamps’ 1st birthday. Cue amazing prizes, peeps and projects; you don’t wanna miss it!

Pinwheel Poinsettia...

This is my second post for today. Please scroll down for my CASE Study card. Thanks! :)

Pinwheel Poinsettia
Hey!

So. Did you know? Saturday is a special day for us card-makers. Yup, it's World Card Making Day (WCMD) this Saturday October 5th (It falls on the first Saturday of October).

A day dedicated to this wonderful hobby? Count me in! A day dedicated to celebrating not only this hobby, but the amazing community that surrounds it? Sign me up! :D

I'm totally honoured that one of the key peeps in keeping the fun and community spirit alive in this hobby, the one and only Cath Edvalson of Moxie Fab World, has a fun post today featuring card-makers from around the world (including me!) sharing our thoughts on WCMD and of course, a card too. I have to smile that some of the peeps representing the the corners of the globe on today's post are people I am so blessed to know already through this hobby. They're so talented and the sweetest too! Those that I don't even know that well, I'm an admirer of. :)

Today's card is my contribution to the post inspired by the Christmas/Season's Greetings category. What can I say? I have Christmas and poinsettias on the brain right now when it comes to any creative time I can find. I know I'll thank myself later in December when I can just send these cards out in plenty of time but for now, I guess you'll have to put up with them here on the blog way before the season - sorry!

tips and tricks
  • The poinsettia was simply created by using a pinwheel die and cutting six petals as oppose to your usual four.
  • The reverse side of the patterned paper I used for my pin-wheel poinsettia was originally white so I  coloured it with a red marker. This bled through to the patterned side which made both sides a lovely rich, warming red. Happy accidents - gotta love 'em! :)
Be sure to check out the post if you can. I guarantee that you'll be treated to amazing cards created from amazing peeps from around the world! :)
