Happy Monday! Well it's kinda happy here, yet tinged with a bit of the Olympic Blues....I can't believe after so many years of hype and waiting, it's now over so quickly!
Well 29 gold medals later from Team GB and I'm feeling the effects of it filter into my crafting:
This card features a technique I really should play with more often: embossing. I don't what it is, but it always feels like such a chore to me until I see the end result! I also thought it was rather apt to select gold as my embossing powder on royal velvet cardstock as a nod to the awesome achievements of Team GB! :)
This card is for our challenge on A Passion for Papertrey. Now we've been glued to our beloved Olympics so decided for another free, 'take your pick' challenge. Simply create anything with at least one PTI product to qualify for entry - easy peasy, right?!
Right, it's now back to the normal routine now the Olympics is over. I'm heading to the gym with a clear focus on Rio 2016! Ha!

The gold on Royal Velvet is the perfect tribute to the fabulous host country! what an amazing and wonderful games it was! Loved every minute of it!
you go Duchess! I'm thinking if Race Walking is a sport now, race crafting is right around the corner! I remember that anti-climatic feeling after our Olympics were over...you want the excitement to last! You put on a great show and your (ahem, OUR!) Team GB were amazing...I can see why you have gold on your brain :) That white ribbon is so unexpected and looks fabulous against the dark background :)

Maybe there should be some Olympic crafting contest of some sorts :) I remember back in 2010, after the Winter Olympics, the post-olympic depression kind of hit me. The whole city was just so lively... and I've never seen SO many people out on the streets!!!

I stumbled across your blog. Always a pleasure seeing another crafter getting pleasure from what they do.
Your cards are very sophisticated.
I sometimes make my own Christmas cards, I make lino cuts and print them on my old hand press
Im'e a gilder and use gold leaf and imitation gold leaf rather a lot.
Have you thought of gilding onto paper?
It's really quite easy to gild onto paper, there are now modern gold sizes that are simple to use, and there are various ways to create antique and distressed finishes as well., like the crackle glaze and antique glaze.
If you have a moment, pop over to my site, there is quite a lot about gilding onto paper, in particular there is an old bookbinders recipe which you can use to make really authentic looking imitation vellums and parchment papers from ordinary papers.

So gorgeous, Amy! I don't emboss often either and need to practice. Looks like you get a gold medal for yours! Teehee. ;D I enjoyed the Olympics whole-heartedly and was happy to see the host country do so well!!
Mmmmmm! This is so elegant, classy and rich all at the same time! I absolutely love embossing and your card has 1,000 reminders of why! YUM!
