More orange but still no satsumas...

Hey!

Wa-hooo for Friday! So looking forward to the weekend; we've got nothing special planned and sometimes they're the kinda weekends I like the best :)

So I promised that I'd be back with my second card for the current (and very nearly ending!) Runway Inspired Challenge #10

I guess I really was inspired by those colours and for my second entry I was inspired by the colour blocking trend (I ignored the chevrons for this one!)

Happy Birthday

I truly colour blocked the orange, gold and black. The gold is some 'magic' card I picked up ages ago and when you stamp and emboss in clear ink and powder it gives this really cool foiled effect. (FYI: I reckon there's nothing magic about this card at all. I'd be tempted to experiment on any glossy, metallic card).

The only problem with this card is that it's a pain to photograph:

Happy Birthday

I hope you get the general gist of the design anyways! It's rare I design with a recipient in mind, but I have a friend who ooooozes style and this card is destined for her special day.

I wish I could say that these challenges make me a fashionista, but I would still look like a satsuma in that shade of orange - ha! Mind you, my guy reckons I'd be more of a clementine wearing this shade of orange: still very orange but very sweet too  (altogether now, 'awwww!' or 'bleugh!') Ha!

Have a fabulous weekend - whatever you're up to!

Catch ya later!

Orange but no satsumas...

Hey!

Happy Tuesday! Nearly half-way through the week already *wink*

I really thought this week would be quiet on the ol' blogeroo but after taking full advantage of some free time last weekend, I have a few things to share on here!

First up is my first entry to the current Runway Inspired Challenge #10. That's right, I said 'first'. So inspired was I by this runway beauty, that I whipped up another take on the challenge to share with you later this week.

Not my usual colours but I think I could easily grow to like 'em :)

Thoughts of You

I hope you can tell that I was inspired by the colours and the trendy chevron pattern on the orange top.

This card contains a mix of sets from different companies but I think they work together just fine. First up the flowers and sentiment are from Nature's Beauty by The Craft's Meow. The chevrons are from Papertrey Ink and the tiny strip of Terracotta Tile has a gorgeous pattern stamped in Versamark from Uniko Studio's Background Builders: Lattice.

Wish I could get away with wearing such a bold shade of orange....though with my red hair I fear I would end up looking like a satsuma! Ha!

I'll be back later with my second entry...and don't fear, it won't feature any satsumas :)

Catch ya later!

Farewell gorgeous green ribbon...

Hey!

Happy Monday!

I'm scootin' in super quick to share a card for our challenge on A Passion for Papertrey:

Special to me

Apologies that the white embossed sentiment doesn't show well on my pic but does so much more IRL. The one time the sun decided to come out full was the moment I hit 'click' on my camera!

Our challenge is be inspired by wildlife. There are so many directions you could go with this but I focused on a set that hasn't had nearly enough inky love, Papertrey Ink's Happy Trails. I love that set and the coordinating dies too (the dragonfly was die cut once from cardstock and again from vellum and layered). This card also de-hoards some *gorgeous* ribbon; I've been holding on to this strip for a long time and finally said goodbye to it....does this mean I can buy some more I wonder?! *wink*

We'd love it if you could play along this week! The challenge end next Monday so there's plenty of time to ink along with us :)

Gotta dash - it's gonna be a busy one this week though I hope to squeeze in a few extra posts to share what I got up to this weekend (all inky of course!)

Hopping....Wild West Stylee :)

It's a double release day here today! This is my second post for today - be sure to check out the release from Uniko Studio here or scroll down, thanks! :)

Hey!

Happy Saturday! Happy Weekend! Happy release day at The Craft's Meow!

The Craft's Meow

We like to celebrate release day with a blog hop but just before you're ready to be hopping:

'Blogger has been causing problems for some of our
designers all week long so you may come across a few
of our designer's blogs that do not appear updated
with today's blog hop post.
If that happens, please refer to the hop order at the end of
my post or on The Craft's Meow Store Blog
to continue on, but make sure you plan to check back
on the other blogs because you'll need to leave a comment
on each blog in order to win our BIG PRIZE!'

What's the big prize? Well leave a comment on every blog on the hop, including the TCM Blog and you could win the entire April release!

So back to the hop. You should have arrived here from the fabulous Amy Tsuruta - if you haven't, then be sure to start the hop at the TCM Blog :)

It was super tough to decide which set to play with for our blog hop, but in the end 'Giddy Up' literally had me giddy at my desk - hee!

Aw Shucks

This uses one of the sweetest sentiments along with a fabulous frame image available from the set. The patterned card-base is one from aaaaaaages ago (I think it's a*muse but don't quote me on that!) and seemed to fit the theme of the set nicely.

Remember that this set I've used today is FREE with every $50 purchase from The Craft's Meow! It's definitely a fun one that I'll be inking up again and again!

Now I don't want to keep you as there's a lot of hopping to be done. Your next stop is the super Ivana Camdzic but if you find that Blogger has been naughty, then here's the full list should you get lost!

Thanks so much for stopping by today - enjoy the hop! :)

Celebrate!

Hey!

Hooray for the weekend! Not only am I sooooooo ready for it after a crazy first week back at work, but I'm also soooooooo excited because it's new release time at Uniko Studio!!!

Yup - Bev has designed some seriously fabulous stamps and has a total of 4 new sets to offer from today! Not only that, but she's also whipped up some beautiful digital paper packs that coordinate perfectly with the sets!

So where's a gal to start? Well how about with some delicate flourishes?

Celebrate Love

This pretty flourish is just one example of many from the set, 'Fontiment Fancies - Swirls and Flourishes' and believe me, it's so fine in detail and stamps perfectly! I decided to add a bit of colour, and coloured the hearts in before adding a coat of Glossy Accents to each heart (it's hard to see on my pic but it adds so much dimension IRL!). The sentiment is from yet another fabulous set being released today called, 'Fontiments - Birthday'. The fonts in this set have me drooling: I want to stamp 'celebrate' on everything! In fact, I might just do that:

Celebrate

Different font this time but from the same set! This card doesn't contain my usual go-to colours, but the gorgeous digital paper from the 'Hands of Time' collection had me trying out this bold combo. To add extra interest, I simply trimmed around the circular elements of the design down the left side of the patterned paper.

Shall we celebrate some more? I think so :)

Time to Celebrate

This card shows just how well the new release coordinates with the previous sets from Uniko Studio. The clock face (well I've kinda turned it into a watch using a simple masking technique) and sentiment are from Time and Extra Time, but check out the new patterned paper: it's from the Modern Lattice collection and I love it! Just to make me even more giddy, this paper pack comes with a coordinating stamp set too! 'Background Builders - Lattice' really does provide limitless opportunities to create unique backgrounds - it's a stampers dream! Although I decided to stamp just one strip of a design as a watch strap, the stamps themselves easily cover a 5.5" card. Designed by a stamper for a stamper through and through :)

Let's carry on with the celebration theme with this last card:

Celebrate

This card features yet another fabulous font available from the 'Fontiments - Birthday' set (I promise you it has more than just  'celebrate' but for some reason I've developed an attachment to that word LOL!). The background panel has been stamped using different sized doilies from the new set, 'Decorative Doilies - The Hands of Time'. This set will coordinate perfectly with the mini doilies you can create using the set 'Time' as I did here. I can't wait to try stamping this again in a different colour way!

Be sure to pop across to the Uniko Studio Blog and check out some more projects from this release! You won't be disappointed!

Thanks so much for stopping by and 'celebrating' the new release :)

Yeehaw!

Hey!

TGIF, Peeps! :)

It's the final day of the sneaky peeks of the April release from The Craft's Meow before the full sets are revealed tomorrow!

The Craft's Meow

Today we're showcasing a set that is FREE. That's right, F.R.E.E! If you spend $50 on your order this set could be yours at no extra cost.

What's the set, you ask? Well it's another beauty of Nina.B's and it's called 'Giddy Up'. This set is perfect for all the cowboys or cowgals, young or old! I inked up both an image and sentiment (love that western font!) for today's card:

Hi Ya Cowboy

I tried my hand at a spot of triple embossing to create an authentic looking belt buckle/sherrif's badge. Firstly, I stamped the outline of the image once on brown card (masking the central image) and embossed in gold. Then on a plain piece of cardstock, I grabbed my clear ink, smooshed it all over and embossed with clear ultra-thick embossing enamel (UTEE). I repeated this process three times and then for the fourth layer I inked up the stamp in clear ink and used basic gold embossing powder; once that gold embossing powder had melted, I stamped my image into the molten powder and let it set (the clear ink on the stamp means your stamp wont' be damaged in anyway and will release easily!) Once cool, I simply trimmed the around the sherrif element to create this buckle/badge. It shines so much more IRL - you'll have to take my word for it!

Now I just need to find a cowboy to give this to...!

I hope you've enjoyed the release so far! Be sure to check out what the rest of the TCM DT whipped up with this set as it has some fabulous images and sentiments. In fact, why not leave a comment on the TCM Blog for a chance to win this set for yourself? (Comments must be left by 9pm Pacific time)

I'm riding on outta here for today, but be sure to stay tuned tomorrow for the full release and our TCM DT Blog Hop! There's a chance for you to win the entire release!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Planes and Owls....TCM Sneak Peek 3

This is my second post for today. Scroll down or click here to check out this week's CASE Study!

Hey!

Told ya I'd be back (though not in a Arnold Schwarzenegger kinda way!) :)

So back we're back on track with day 3 of the super sneaky peeks of the April release from The Craft's Meow.

The Craft's Meow

Remember that there's a total of 6 fabulous sets being released this month! Today we get to give you a sneaky peeky of 2 of them, (You can check out the previous peeks, here and here!)

First up today is a fabulously fun set by Nina.B called Vintage Rides. Vintage Rides contains a variety of transportation, illustrated in a fun style along as having some great coordinating sentiments! I couldn't resist the sweet plane from this set:

Happy Birthday

Too CAS? Well just open that card and things should get more a little more interesting...

Happy Birthday
Apologies for the pic: it turns out that this only just managed to squeeze into my photo tent!

A simple tri-fold card that features not only the sweet plane but the banner too (FYI: Vintage Rides contains a number of sentiments to fit into that banner!). I got the idea to continue an image over a few folds from one of my Pinterest boards (where else?!)

More fun now as we introduce the second fabulous set for today. Yup. The owls are back! Jenny Suchin has rustled up a sweet set called, Owl Journaling. This super-cute set is fabulous for both cardmakers and scrapbookers alike, and features many li'l stationary/office images that my heart skip a beat! To showcase this set, I decided to do something a little different from your regular card and rustled up a fun gift:

Owl Photo Strip

I decided it'd be fun to create a photo-booth style strip along with a coordinating holder (it's attached to a peg if you're wondering!) ready for some fun photos to be added to it. Let's face it, you didn't wanna just see pics of me on there, so I intentionally left it blank *wink*. The photo-booth style strip was simply stamped using a masking technique of the original Polaroid-style frame so you can customise how many pics to have on your strip - bonus! (FYI: The peg will stand on a table too so you can easily attach that li'l owl the other way around should you have no-where to hang this!)

Well that's your lot for today! I hope you've enjoyed the sneaky peeky and that you'll check out what the rest of the TCM DT got up to with these sets! Remember - there's a chance to win one of today's sets by leaving a comment over on the TCM Blog (comments must be left before 9pm Pacific Time) so go on, what are you waiting for?!

Thanks so much for stopping by again! I'll be back tomorrow to share a sneaky peeky of the final set up for the April release - I can't wait! :D

Classic, Sophisticated and Chic...

Hey!

Ready to roll on with day 2 of the April release over on The Craft's Meow? I hope so! :)

The Craft's Meow

Today we're giving you a sneaky peek of a set that just oozes sophistication. A debut set for The Craft's Meow from the fabulous Karen Baker! 'Inspired by Audrey' is a set that contains beautiful phrases from Audrey Hepburn - I love it!

For my sneaky peek, I wanted to pay homage to the film and fashion icon by keeping things simple, sophisticated and chic:

Audrey

Breakfast at Tiffany's, anyone?

A few pearls make for the perfect embellishment when you're 'Inspired by Audrey'. With this sweetest of quotes, I'm thinking this may make a nice wedding card.

Well that's all from me today! I hope you've enjoyed this sneak peek and that you'll check out the rest of the TCM DT and see what they've designed with with tres chic set! Speaking of which, in the excitement of yesterday's post, I forgot to introduce our two fabulous guest DT members - apologies! Please welcome both Geri Freeman and Gini Cagle!

Fancy a chance at winning the set for yourself? Then pop across and leave a comment on the TCM Blog by 9pm Pacific Time tonight!

TCM Sneaky Peeky - Day 1

Hey!

Happy Tuesday! Happy preview time for a new release from The Craft's Meow :)

The Craft's Meow

Brace yourselves, there's a total of 6 fabulous new sets to be released on April 21st so I'll be stickin' around here all week to give you as many sneaky peeks as possible!

First up, we're showing a gorgeous set called, Nature's Beauty. A set that really is beautiful and could cater for a number of occasions:

Nature's Beauty

I was really taken by the large silhouette stamp in this set and was inspired to play with my heat gun for this card. I firstly stamped text along the bottom half of a white panel of card then stamped and embossed both the silhouette and sentiment with clear ink and embossing powder. Then I sponged black ink all over the card and wiped clean with a tissue (the black ink resists the embossed image and sentiment). I simply finished off with satin ribbon and mounted on to a white card base.

Next up is cool, graphic set called Travel Time. This set fills in a gap in my stamp collection, and is appealing to both card-makers and scrapbookers alike!

<span class=

I just knew that I had some air-mail envelopes hiding in my crafty space and trimmed one down to create the main panel of this card. A match made in Crafty Heaven methinks!

Oh I wish I could show you more today, but you'll have to come back tomorrow *wink*

In the meantime, why not check out what the rest of the TCM DT created with these sets? You won't be disappointed!

Fancy a chance of winning one of these sets for yourself? Then be sure to leave a comment on the TCM Blog!

Paper lines...

Hey!

OK, so I'm making the most out of my last official day of the Easter holidays and squeezing in another post today :)

I didn't realise but the deadline for the current Runway Inspired Challenge is tonight! Eeek!

So the idea I had for this challenge that had been sitting happily in my mind had to be put into practice, pronto!

Hello

You expected green, right? Well I was totally taken with the angular lines and folds in the dress as it strutted its stuff down the catwalk. Those lines lead to me playing with strips of paper and I came up with this pattern.

The hello is stamped in the top corner of the pattern to draw your eye to it, much like the dress uses colour and pattern to catch your eye to that particular section too.

Well the weekend has officially started over here so I'm off to make the most of it before work on Monday. I hope you have a super duper weekend yourself too!

Opposites attract...

Hey!

Happy Friday! In fact it's a happy CAS-ual Friday today here on the ol' blogeroo. The Craft's Meow are sponsoring this week's CAS-ual Friday challenge, so as part of the TCM DT we got a sneak peek of the challenge to ink along to in advance :)

So if you've not already checked it out, this week's challenge is called 'opposites attract'. You're to create a CAS project that features opposite colours from the colour wheel.

Picking opposite colours will provide you with a complimentary colour scheme and is a basic principle of colour theory
.

So you're expecting green and red here, right? Well, think again! I wanted to try something a little different:

Fabulous

Hmmmm purple is so not my kinda colour, but I have to admit I do like it paired with yellow in a small dose to 'pack a punch'. There's lots of TCM goodness on this card: I masked a panel on my card base and stamped the flower from Beautiful Spring whilst also stamping tone on tone yellow butterflies on my additional panel from the same set. The sentiment comes from pairing and masking two separate sentiments from Thanks Bee to Thee.

Hope you can find time to play along with this challenge! Remember that one winner will get to grab some TCM goodies so what are ya waitin' for?

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!

Rolling, rolling, rolling....

Hey!

Happy Easter Monday! I hope you've all had a lovely weekend; ours was spent with my guy's side of the family with lots of long over-due catching up, good food and good laughter too :)

I'm sharing a card today that I'm gonna 'fess up and say made my punny heart skip a beat:

On a Roll

I don't even like sushi, but I like it in paper form. Heck, I even think I'd really enjoy making the real deal, but I'd need someone with me who would be willing to eat it :)

The rolling mat was created by lining up toothpicks and adding knotted twine to the ends. The sushi is created by quilling; I think I may have the quilling bug...it was so therapeutic to sit and roll these li'l sushi cuties! And of course, the whole 'quilling/rolling paper' fits in perfectly with the punny sentiment - hee!

This card is 'rolling' its way into the Practical Solutions: DIY Embellishments Challenge over on Moxie Fab World. I recommend you check it out (Cath's even featured another pun-tastic sushi card there by Katie Gehring) and if you fancy entering, then get your skates on - the challenge ends tonight at midnight!

Right then, I'm rolling my way outta here....I've got some cocktail sticks that need replacing!

Musical Pegs...

Hey!

Well guess what I woke up to this morning? SNOW! Yup, that's no belated April Fool; we really did wake up to a good few inches of the stuff and it's still coming.....Is it really April?

Edited to add pic: yes, I did go out with my Tim Holtz ruler to measure the snow. What other kind of ruler is there?! Hee!

Looks like today is going to be a day inside stamping - I'm not complaining :)

Before I do go stamp away to my heart's content, I thought I'd share a li'l fun I've had stamping already:

Musical Pegs

Those were just your ordinary, everyday pegs until they got a lick of paint and a good stampin'!

Pegs Musical

These pegs are actually for our new challenge on A Passion for Papertrey: Knock on Wood. Woodgrain has been such a trend in papercrafting at the moment and we want to see your interpretation of it. As you can see, my mind is very literal in its thinking right now - ha!

I have another peg-project to share with ya but that'll have to wait for another day as I can hear my crafting corner calling me...

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Celebrating Lily Pad Cards

Hey!

Well I did tell you I'd be back soon :)

Phew! It's busy, busy here but when there's a birthday to celebrate, then it's the good kind of busy! Whose birthday is it? Well its Lily Pads Cards' 1st Birthday!

The Craft's Meow are joining the hop and are also offering 3 fabulous stamp sets up as prizes so we've been asked to join in the fun and rustle up a birthday project:

Celebrating you on your special day

There's something so classic and elegant about cream and black to me.

To create the flourish-style frame I simply stamped the corner design from No Greater Love four times in each corner. The sentiment comes from Celebrating You and fits perfectly into the elegant style with it's swirly font :)

So come and join the party! It's all kicks off here!

Right that really is it from me today - I promise!

Inside and Out - Literally!

Hey!

Well can you believe it? It's April already! And not only that, but April Fool's Day too (have you been fooled yet?)

Well there's no pranks here, it's definitely April 1st and with a new month comes a fun new sketch challenge to play along with at The Craft's Meow :)

Our sketch this month is by the super, duper Nina:

This sketch to me said, 'envie'. No matter how hard I tried to interpret it any other way it still demanded to be an envelope so who am I to deny a sketch its destiny? :)

Love You Inside and Out

This li'l envie plays on the punny sentiment and will soon contain a treat for my guy inside (I'm thinking cinema tickets for a date night). Normally I'd sneak it into his packed lunch, but as we've both got the next 2 weeks off together I'm not sure how to sneak it into his daily routine!

The sentiment and owl at the top are created by my computer (I had access to the digi version of Get Well Soon so inverted the black and white on the x-ray owl to create it). And I hit upon a cool thing (well, cool to me!) that you can create custom length envies with the seed packet die from PTI. I did this by simply running it only part way through my Cuttlebug, and then using scissors and a ruler to measure and trim how long you need the envie to be past the die cut section! (If that makes no sense to you then let me know! It makes sense in my head but may require pics!)

We'd love to see you ink along to this month's sketch and you're not required to use TCM stamps to share the inspiration. One lucky peep will win the TCM stamp set of their choice and lemme tell ya, you'll be spoilt for choice!

It's a busy Sunday here on the blogeroo: I'll be back in a few hours with a card to celebrate a fun birthday...

Catch ya later! (well when I say later I mean a matter of mins! Ha!)
