Thanks, Nichole!

Hey!

And a late but still, happy Monday to y'all the other side of the pond as it's practically Tuesday over here!!! Now it's the last time I can say 'happy Monday' for a while because as of next Monday I'm back to school!
Anyways enough about work! I'm so happy that I get to be a part of something special today! Over on the PTI forum, we're holding a special PTI Blog Hop to show our appreciation of the one and only, Nichole Heady (my stamping idol! Seriously, this lady oozes more talent outta her pinky than I could ever dream of having!) The idea is to make a Thank You card as your way to say, well, Thanks!
So Nichole, if you're reading this, thank you so much for the inspiration you provide not only to me but to everyone. Not many people are capable of making me physically drool over my keyboard through sharing their creations but you certainly do! I admire not only how creatively talented you are, but how you successfully juggle being a Mother, a Wife, and a Business Woman too! When I grow up, (if I grow up!) I'd love to be half of what you are today!

I also tried to be super crafty and sneak in a Papertrey Peeps Challenge with this colour combo too. I'm so sorry to the Peeps that I've been a naughty blogger/stamper and although I thought I would have caught up on the challenges over summer, I still feel nowhere near up to date!

So thanks, Nichole for the job you do, and thanks, Peeps for not telling me off LOL!

Catch ya later!

Weddings and Bikes...

Hey!

Can I get a woot, woot, for the Bank Holiday Weekend over here in the UK?! Yay! So happy that I'll have company on Monday now my guy (and friends) are off work :D

So my inky fingers from the last post...well, the raspberry alcohol ink did come off my fingers after much scrubbing! No need to go and find a shocking pink dress to divert the attention from my fingers for the wedding we attended on Friday LOL! I'll share a pic (or two) of that fabulous day when my friend gets around to uploading the pics; I did bring a camera but as I was behind it all the time, the few pictures that have me and my guy on were taken by other people!

Today I'm sharing a card that I'm going to confess I'm sooooooooooooooo happy with that it made me want to jump up and down and dance! I didn't really want to give it away at first, but once I saw the faces of the Bride and Groom light up when they opened the envie, I was sure I'd done the right thing! And before you think, bike? wedding? I'll tell ya that the groom is huge fan of cycling:

I was impressed that I managed to use The Whole Cycle stamp set for a wedding card and still kinda keep it lovey-dovey for the bride! The flourish is supposed to represent the old tradition of tying cans to a wedding car, only I opted for the hearts that scattered my desk after using the Martha Stewart Border Punch (thanks, Diva!) Pssst!! Like the bike stamp? You could win it if you enter this week's CASE study!

Another shot to show that I stamped on super pearlescent card to add to the 'weddingy' feeling:

And just one more shot to show how blinged up and sparkly that bike is! Can't imagine the groom would want a bike like this, but man, wouldn't you spot him in a race/time trial if he did LOL!

So pearlescent card, a few touches of bling, satin ribbon and voila! A wedding card! I even love the sentiment - I mean marriage is a journey, right?! And both Chris and I wished them a very happy one and even gave them some Luck O' the Irish with some Irish Money (it's still legal tender over here!)

Inky Fingers...

Hey!

Well c'mon peeps, it's a Thursday and we all know what that means, right?! Not only is it Friday eve, but.....

...altogether now....

Yay! Time for another CASE study to play along with! I really, really hope you can play along too :D

So as August's Muse, the fabby Makiko Jones has this creation for us to CASE

So I took a good look at the different elements of the card, injected a bit of my own kinda style, and came up with this:

If you can't tell already, the things I decided to CASE were the colours, the flowers, the die cut shape and sponging ink (or in my case, chalk) with my nestie still in place. I love how you can CASE all this, and end up with a completely different style of card! Do you recognise the layout? Well I cheated slightly and used this card to kick my mojo into gear!

And yes, this is my attempt at making my own flower embellie with alcohol inks and let me just say that if you're gonna do this, whatever you do WEAR PLASTIC GLOVES! Ask me how I know what happens when you don't *grin* My guy came home to find me looking like I'd committed murder and the darn ink will not budge! And just to add a lil' more drama I've got a wedding to attend tomorrow - eek!

So c'mon peeps, play along because you can CASE anything from Makiko's creation: colours, layout, flowers - ANYTHING! And if you do play along, you could not only win a super Winner badge for your blog or a top 3 blinikie (woot, woot!), one randomly selected participant will win some gorgeous goodies courtesy of Judith Gowdy, an owner of JayGee's Nook!! Judith is giving out a fabulous prize - the winner will have an option to choose one of these fabulous stamp sets: 'Bake Me a Cake' from Lawn Fawn or 'The Whole Cycle' from Practicing Creativity!

So what'cha waitin' for?!?! Check out what the rest of the DT CASED if you need inspiring:

A Sweet Surprise...

Hey!

A surprise extra post from me this week! Just wanted to share a little card that was made with my scraps on my desk that fits with the current and nearly ending Embellish challenge:

I think I'm addicted to the current Embellish Challenge and who would've thought it with my phobia of Melon Berry! This is a 3x3 card - love that size of card; I think it definitely adds to the sweetness/cuteness! The strip across the top was the negative scrap from my rick rack die - I kinda liked the shape of it, so stuck it on!

The whole thing that got me started on this card was not my attempt to tidy my desk, but something I read recently in Blogland about challenging yourself to create something outta your scraps in 10mins (I'll link it if I ever find it and didn't imagine it! Edited to add - it was on Jessica Witty's blog, thanks Karen!) Well this took about 10mins, admittedly the super dollop of glossy accents took slightly longer to dry so we won't count drying time, OK?! *wink*

Ah, I truly do ♥ this stamp set so much! Now I'll confess that the ice lolly (or Popsicle to some peeps *wink*) normally gets picked first for stamping, but I couldn't leave this sweet ice cream out, could I?!

Now I challenge you to have a go at this with your own scraps; you'll be surprised at what you can create, stress free whilst tidying your desk at the same time!

Stay tuned for my post tomorrow for our new CASE study challenge!

Goin' Dotty...

Hey!

Happy Tuesady! How's your week going? I've finally persuaded my guy to take this week off work just so I have some company during the looooooong days I have alone so I'll keep this short and sweet :D

Firstly, thanks so much for your well wishes for my dad! I can report with positive news that he's due home today - yay! Fingers crossed anyways...

OK onto the card! Well this card is for our new challenge on our PTI blog. We wanna see your creations featuring dots...and before you even suggest it, no, I didn't use Polka Dot Basics II or the dotty chair from On My Couch for this challenge!

Nope, I finally broke out my Beautiful Blooms DP! This card was for Chris' parents and because it was being hand delivered I could add dimension to my heart's content - cue the foam pads and ribbon! I know it's a pretty simple design - but that paper is so bold that I felt I couldn't add much more to it before getting a headache LOL!

So as always, I'm hoping you can play along too - get dotty and use just one PTI product on your creation to enter!! If you live within Europe you could be the lucky winner of PTI's Anniversary Set, Round and Round!

So Sweet, but Quirky-Cutesy-Clean?!

Hey!

And a happy Saturday to you today! Can't say we've got anything highly exciting planned this weekend but I kinda like the weekends when I can say that; means I get some time to chill and stamp *wink*!

So this last week my mind was totally focused on crafting but then when I sat down to craft I just didn't 'feel it'! The time I did feel it was at night and I spent a good few hours making some cards into the wee hours of the morning. This card was made for the current Embellish challenge; so happy I got to play along this time as I missed out on the last challenge:

Quirky-Cutesy-Clean style....well I can do the clean part; you probably know I don't really do cute on cards but if you saw any of my stationary for work or even my lunch-box you'd know that I ♥ cute! I get my supplies from Paperchase - oh I adore that shop and don't even get me started on the fabulous gift packaging they do LOL! And as for the quirky part, well I've been called that and more so I figured I'd give this challenge a go....

Now I dunno if my buddy, Emma is psychic, spies on me at work or just knows me so darn well, but she was sooooo sweet as to buy me this My Cute Stamps set for my birthday. I've wanted this set for ages and literally gasped and squealed as I jumped around the room when I opened it LOL! I've stamped loads of these cuties when I've been sitting at my desk just colouring them for fun so this card came together pretty quickly and that lolly was beggin' me for a good dollop of Glossy Accents for super icy shine-a-bility! :D

Couldn't you just slurp up that ice lolly?! Would I share it?! Depends who with LOL!

OK so I dunno if this qualifies for a card in a Quriky-Cutesy-Clean style but I'm happy anyways!

FYI: just some other notes for ya before I leave ya:
  • Finally, if you've got any positive vibes send 'em this way please! My dad is back in hospital (again!) and although both he and I remain in good, positive spirits we'd much rather him recover to a stage where he can come home! Means I'm kinda busy at the moment so apologies if I seem a bit absent here in Blogland; good job I've got some projects prepared that I can schedule so I won't leave you with nothing to look at!

Ric Rac Roses!

Hey!

Happy Thursday!!! So nearly the weekend - hang on in there, peeps! LOL!
So you better get used to Thursdays here on my blogeroo because every Thursday we have a new CASE study!!! Makiko Jones is the MUSE for our August Creations, so wanna see her creation that's up for the CASE study this week?

Here it is:
Hmmmm....now what to CASE for this week?! Well I spotted that Makiko had used some lovely DP and some flowers - not the kinda things I that I use a lot of, but am ashamed to say I hoard in my crafty cupboard LOL!!! So I rooted through the DP stash to find a sheet by Basic Grey I've been hoarding for years; looked kinda similar to Maikko's and just played:

Now I know it's not a card! I struggle with DP on cards so I cheated and you can cheat too! So long as your creation takes some inspiration from the original creation, it totally counts!

This week's sponsor is Bonnie of Really Reasonable Ribbon; now I, along with the rest of the DT, had the complete joy of playing with some samples - oh free ribbon, pinch me!!! The flowers on this bag were made from rolling up some sweet baby pink rickrack ribbon and putting a few stitches in to hold them - you can catch a tutorial of that here. And the sweet pink ribbon holding my gift bag shut is also from Really Reasonable Ribbon too! I recommend a taking a peek over there, there's a ribbon for every occasion!

So why not play along and join in the chance of winning some sweet ribbon and have some fun whilst you're at it too?! Need more inspiration? Check out the awesome creations by the rest of the DT:

Faithful Stars!

Hey!

Happy Tuesday, y'all!!!! Hope you're having a fabby week so far...now I know that for some of you, it's back to school time, but I've still got 2.5 weeks of freedom left and I'm making the most of every second of it :D!

So y'know how I was sayin' that we went to see my guy's family for guy birthdays at the weekend? Well today I'm sharing the card that I made for his Dad. Now Dads are tricky customers to make cards for, I mean my guy's dad is completely different to my dad! My dad is all about the countryside and wheel barrows and Chris' dad is all about business and travelling the world for it! Totally different characters LOL!

So when in a pickle like this, I always grab my ever-so-faithful-star prints stamp set and get busy:

I'm sure one day, Chris' dad will realise that every card he's had from us features stars.....I need to get a new guy card stamp set methinks!

Right then, before I dash, I just thought I'd share a funny pic with ya. Now in my Enjoy Life post I told you about how happy I was, and how I'd just had a funny hen afternoon/night with my girlie friends. Well I've now got the pic that features yours truly in full men's ice hockey gear, no where near ice....and before you even suggest it, there wasn't a Gin and Tonic in sight as I was driving! Just the good ol' tea and fruit juice for me....

...so what does this suggest about me?! LOL! Well I'm thinking of wearing this when I go back to school. And d'ya wanna know the funny part? I'm heading back for a girly sleepover on Wednesday which means I can have a drink....so who knows what may happen if this is how I end up drinking just tea and fruit juice LOL!

Presents-a-Plenty!

Hey!

Happy Sunday! I hope you've all had a fabby weekend so far...I've been off on a lil' road trip to visit my guy's family to celebrate not one, but two birthdays with the most scrummy Italian meal out - I actually opted for a salad which isn't like me, but it was the yummiest salad I've ever had which included good helpings of apple, walnuts, gorgonzola and honey! Paired with a crisp, dry white wine I was in summer dining Heaven!

Anyways enough about food, both birthdays were guy ones so cue the masculine card panic LOL! Well I've kinda cheated and his youngest brother will be getting this card that I thought was kinda cool, hip and OK for a 19 year old; I realise that I need to actually do something with the stash of cards I create rather than keep thinking that I need to make a new card for every new occasion that arises!

So today, I'm not here to share cards for those occasions because there's yet another guy birthday in our family today!!! My nephew, Charlie will be celebrating his first birthday - seems like only yesterday he was born, doesn't time fly by!

So as I sat down to make his card (I had no suitable cards in my stash for this occasion!) I checked the mail first to find some stampy love had been delivered from Practicing Creativity Designs! Oh, as soon as I tore the padded envie open, I just had to ink this sweet set up and make Charlie's card with it:

Now because I'm on a lil' kick with kinesthetic cards, I figured I'd have a little fun; just pull that white ribbon tab will ya?!

Presents-a-Plenty!!!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Practicing Creativity Designs - The Whole Cycle/PTI - Star Prints/Hero Arts
Ink: Memento Black/PTI Fresh Snow
Cardstock: PTI Spring Rain/Ripe Avocado/Stamper's Select White
Accessories: Promarkers/Nestabilities/Cuttlebug/PTI Fresh Snow Twill Ribbon/Dovecraft Chalks

Yup, I know you're used to it by now but it still makes me smile :D

Now because I used a method of transport on this card I'm finally catching up with the Papertrey Peeps Challenges too! This one should hopefully qualify for Challenge #9 I'm so behind but catching up so ever so slowly! Hope those Peeps will forgive me!

Enjoy Life!

Hey!

Happy Thursday, Peeps! This isn't your regular-happy-go-lucky-Thursday though...this is August 12th 2010 and d'ya know what that means?!
Yup - CASE study is officially OPEN!!!!!! Oh I've been waiting for this day for so long (well a couple of weeks, ever since I'd first heard about it and asked to be on the DT LOL!)

So I can now reveal that our first CASE study for August will be Makiko Jones! What a talented, crafty lady she is! So y'know the deal, we'll share a creation of Makiko's with you each week (on a Thursday) and you're simply to gain inspiration from it! Here's this week's CASE study:

Feel free to totally CASE the creation if you wanna, or just pick out something you like about the creation and put it into your own creation! The thing I love the most about this challenge, is that it still lets you have your own 'style'. So I know that the style of this card is completely outta my comfort zone; however I was totally inspired by the colours Makiko used. So I went with that, along with some other features such as the fab embossing and the subtle but so effective sponging of ink around the focal panel and came up with this:

Card Recipe
Stamps: Papertrey Ink Star Prints
Ink: Memento Black
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink True Black/Stamper's Select White/DCWV Brights Collection
Accesories: Papertrey Ink Hibiscus Burst Grosgrain Ribbon/Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch and Stamps/Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Papertrey Ink Impression Plate/White Gel Pen
/Shimmer Chalks/Hero Arts gem/

I hope you like it! I used chalk instead of ink, my pic doesn't pick it up too well but it's pretty and shimmers IRL! Now the super DT that I'm honoured to be a part of have also taken inspiration to create their own takes on the card, I seriously recommend you check 'em out. It's so interesting how we all take different elements of inspiration - I love it!

Chupa
Andrea Ewen
Carole Kisch
Cindy Lee
Lenet Mos
Sue Kohler
Teneale Williams
Makiko Jones (August Muse)

...and last but not least, hop over to the CASE Study blog, and play along with us!!

Well I really hope you can join in the fun too and remember, there's a $10 gift certificate for the Etsy shop, Pixiepetals where you can grab some super sweet embellishments such as these for your creations!

I'm also gonna squeeze this card into the current Wee Memories challenge which is to use butterflies on your creations and I think this qualifies with five of 'em on LOL!

I have to say this card totally reflects my mood at the moment! Not only am I honoured to be on a fabby new DT, but also I got an email from CARDS magazine and they want to publish some of my cards for the January issue!!! Oh and I spent a hilarious afternoon/night with girly friends at a hen party this week - in which I ended up in full men's ice hockey gear and nowhere near ice, I don't think I've laughed so hard for AGES and I wasn't even drinking alcohol - I might even have a pic of it! Happy times! Sometimes you just gotta pinch yourself, right? And make the most of the sweet feeling...!

MAGICAL!

Hey!

Happy Monday!!! Still happy for me, starting week 3 of 6 weeks off, yup nearly halfway through and it's zooming by so fast!

I'm popping in with a card today that has been keeping me up at night, bugging my mind until I made it. I'm so thankful that I did because not only does it makes me smile, but really impressed my guy and made him smile too :D

I know what'cha thinking...."what's there to smile about?"....well just pull that little terracotta tile tab on top and you'll see...

...just a wee bit more....

TA-DAH!

Card Recipe
Stamps: On My Couch/On My Couch Additions/Polka Do
t Basics II
Ink: Terracotta Tile/Versamark/Stazon Black
Cardstock: Smokey Shadow/Soft Stone/Terracotta Tile/Ripe Avocado
Accessories: Acetate/Ripe Avocado Grosgrain Ribbon/ Fiskars Border Punch/Corner Rounder/Nesties/Fresh Snow Twill/Brads

I hope it makes you smile too! Not only does the chair magically cover itself, it releases a pun based sentiment! Aha! EUREKA! This card has been bugging my mind for ages I'm so happy I got to put the theory into practice and I can now sleep at night!

This card is for our brand new shiny challenge on the PTI Blog - I hope you too can play along and create a long a tall card (don't worry you don't have to make a card like this - I'll confess it took me a while to figure out the logistics of it!) just break outta your comfort zone and create a long/tall card for a change - I promise it's good for the creative soul!

Now I cannot claim full credit for this creation so I'd like to nod you in the direction of the following:
  • The colour combo came from this fab creation from one of my fave PTI DT members, Lisa Johnson (I just threw in the Ripe Avocado instead of Kraft for good measure; green makes everything better IMHO!)
  • The idea to make a magical slider card came from this super old tutorial on SCS that I saw over a year ago and thought was pretty cool. I just knew there was a reason it stuck in my head all that time! I didn't make it the same as this tutorial, but that's where the concept comes from!
This card is going off to my Dad; he's recovering well but it's still such a long journey to full recovery that I figured he might appreciate this along with some Jelly Babies or Liquorice Torpedoes (he has a real sweet tooth if you hadn't guessed!)

Thanks so much for stopping by, I really appreciate it and the sweet comments you leave - I do read every single one in pure appreciation y'know!

I'm off to a Hen Afternoon tomorrow (always thought they were s'posed to be hen nights but anyways I'm sure it'll be a girly giggle!) so I'll be back later this week 'cos I just NEED to play along with the current (and nearly ending) Embellish challenge and this week I get to play as a DT member over on CASE study - so excited!

Catch ya later!

Edited to add: I'm finally starting to catch up on the Papertrey Peeps Challenges with this card too! This one is for Challenge #11 which is to try something different with my cardmaking; well I certainly don't make these everyday LOL!

Super Simple (and sweet too!)

Hey!

Happy Friday-Eve! Not long now until the weekend and although that kinda means my holiday is zooming by, it also means some nice time with my guy to chill-ax together!

Thanks so much for your really sweet comments about my lil' DT news, you're all so sweet and kind! Thank You!! I'd also like to point a "woot, woot!" to my crafty peeps, Ann who is now struttin' her stuff for the Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge DT, and Maureen who is now known simply as, Diva! as she's Verve's Guest Diva for August!!! Way to go ladies!

So just stoppin by today with a super quick card I whipped up this morning; it's gotta go through the mail which explains why it has no dimension at all (well apart from the bling and the HUGE dollop of Glossy Accents *wink*)

Couldn't you just scoff this cupcake in one?! LOL! Now because it's super glossy, here's a close up so you can actually see what that cake looks like rather than just seeing the reflection of my window in that icing:
Card Recipe

Stamps: PTI - Polka Dot Basics II/Hampton Art Footlongs - Cupcakes/Hero Arts - Sentiment
Ink: Versamark/Momento Black
Card: PTI Lavender Moon/White/Aqua Mist
Accessories: Hero Arts Bling/PTI Rick Rack Die/Cuttlebug/Promarkers/Glossy Accents/Corner Rounder Punch

My very own honey treated me to this lil' cupcake stamp set by Hampton Art last weekend so it seemed rude not to ink it up this week. He sure knows how to treat a lady....well....an inky kinda gal like me anyways!

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a super sweet weekend!!!!

P.S Edited to add - just one more lil' woot! I was selected as a Trigger Target over at Moxie Fab World for my Dancing Lanterns Card! What a week it's proved to be!

Happy Monday and Happy News!

Hey!

Happy Monday!!!! For once this is a Monday that I am happy on because I have a couple of reasons to be happy....

1. It's still the summer hols (only on week 2 of my 6 week holiday - whoop!)
2. I've some exciting news to share with y'all.....

....well some of you already know because the word is out *wink*. I have been approached by the lovely Iwona Palamountain (aka Chupa!) in the past few days and have been asked to serve on a Design Team!!! Yup, you heard me!!!
Now Chupa's genius of an idea is amazing! It's different to any kinda challenge based blog I've come across! Chupa will pick a Muse each month and feature one of their creations each week for us to CASE or take inspiration from! And get this, it's called, CASE study! Don't ya just love that name!?! Totally appeals to my pun-natured humour anyways!

I'll be serving along with some amazing talent:
Andrea Ewen
Carole Kisch
Cindy Lee
Lenet Mos
Sue Kohler
Teneale Williams
and Chupa too of course!

Oh please check out the blog because it's seriously fabby and ooozes style! You can also check out my mug-shot over there too - tee hee!
So go grab this badge now and I really hope you can play along with us on Thursday August 12th - save that date! If I haven't tempted ya yet, maybe I can when I say there's a sponsor for prizes too - check out Pixiepetals for some seriously sweet crafty embellishments and join the challenge for a chance to win some goodies from this fabby Etsy shop!

Phew! Thanks for lettin' me get all that excitement outta my system LOL!!! I'll be back soon with a card but couldn't craft until I'd shouted this from the rooftops *wink*
