Be happy

BE HAPPY
Hey!

I'm back again to continue with the sneak peeks of the new Clearly Besotted release (available for purchase from 5th March 10pm UK time) with a card that uses a mixture of goodies. I love combining products to create something new - I always feel like I'm getting even more use from my beloved supplies. :)

So it's a case of eye-spy with this card – I used the birdhouse die from the So Tweet Die Collection as a stand-alone shape and added the 'be happy' sentiment from On Your Day and stamped a couple of subtle sunburst images from the Sunburst stamp set.

Of course, I couldn't resist throwing in a Hambly Screenprint and some geometric-stenciled-goodness too along with the obligatory sequin and star sequins. :)

tips and tricks
  • The triangular design of the stencil echoes and complements the shape of the birdhouse as do the hearts on the Screenprint.
  • Get more from your co-ordinating die and stamp collection by considering using the die shapes alone and decorating them.
  • Do you think I threw away the negative heart from this die-cut shape? Of course not! Always save them - they can make the perfect finishing touch to a future project.
Well that's all from me today. As always, please do pop along to Stephanie's if you haven't already and check out even more sneak peeks from both herself and the amazing Design Team. You won't be disappointed!

I'll be back tomorrow (release day!) to share another sneaky peek in time for you to make your shopping list. ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

More bicycle love...

Bicycle Birthday
Hey!

Hooray for Friday! :)

I'm popping by today, as promised, with another card that features some of the new Clearly Besotted Stamps March release. It also features some older stash I've hoarded so bonus points to me today LOL!

I know, I know I've already shown you this bike this week, but I really have fallen for it big time. (Apologies that it's sold out at the moment but I'm sure you can see why!) I love that you can customise it with a basket and even pick what you want to be flying out of the said basket. However, I stamped just the bike alone for today's card as I wanted to keep things simple. :)

Bicycle Birthday Close Up
My bonus points today are scored from using a tiny piece of a 12x12 Hambly screen sheet on the lower part of the card. I've had a few of these cool screen sheets for years and just used to look at them/stroke them and put them away; I never really knew how to use them. I still don't really think I do now, but I'm certainly inspired to try to use them more!

tips and tricks
  • I carefully cut the sentiment stamp 'happy birthday' in half to separate the words. I know this may freak some of you out, but it really doesn't damage the stamps and they fit back together perfectly should I need to use the sentiment as one whole stamp. Promise!
  • I overlapped the separate design elements of the card. The bike and both sentiment pieces overlap to help the design flow. They eye doesn't have to work too hard to take it all in.
  • My strip of grey card helps to ground the bike. If it wasn't there, the bike would be simply floating and risks looking a little lost. I just couldn't allow such a thing to happen to this sweet bicycle *wink*!
That's all from me today and this week (I think!) Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Quick fun with Overlays!

Hey!

Happy New Year y'all!!! Can't quite believe it's already 2011 where did last year zoom by to?!

We're ready here to put the tree down now, recycle the cards (apart from the beautiful handmade ones I got from some of you; they go in my special draw :D) and start eating some fruit and veg, but I did manage to find a tiny amount of time and space on my desk to quickly whip out a couple of cards. I'm thinking of it as a warm up to an serious inky session later today...

I have been totally inspired by my bloggin' buddy and all-round fab girlie with a fab name (I'm biased of course!), Amy!

Now I always tease her for not using her On My Couch PTI set enough, but then Amy reminded me that I've been guilty of hoarding some yummy Hambly Screen Prints Overlays with her sweet card here! So to make up for all that teasing in 2010, girlie - I've made a couple of cards using my hoarded stash.

I only had a matter of minutes to whip my cards up, so decided to use my overlay as a layer rather than a card base because that just seemed way to adventurous for an inky warm up for me!

With Sympathy

I've decided that this year I'm gonna build up a stash of cards to have on supply so I don't have the last minute panic of being a card-maker without a card to give this year! I think sympathy ones for guys are always the toughest to make, so why not tackle this first, so I can have fun with the next one:

Happy Happy Birthday!

Well again - a guy card! What can I say? My overlays seem to suit the guys LOL!

So fun with overlays over for a while now; I've now gotta create some space in my inky corner, put the kettle on, get the chocolate and prepare for an afternoon of inky fun - Bliss!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Catch ya later!
